Welcome to White Tiger Kenpo
Kenpo karate is a unique mixed martial art or MMA that traces it's near history to the Pa lama settlement on Oahu, Hawaii. It is based on approximately 150 self defense patterns cataloged by the members of the Black Belt Society, whose members included William Chow who was Adriano Emperado (Kenpo) instructor, Walter Choo (Karate), Joe Holck (Judo), Frank Ordonez (Jujutsu), and George C. Chang. Ed Parker another of William Chow's student brought Kenpo to the U.S. in the 1950’s and established American Kenpo as his style. The Tracy Brothers who were Parker students established the Tracy Kenpo based on these same techniques. The true origins of these self defense patterns are unknown but many theories and legends abound.

Bumping, Checking, Dragging and Pushing:
Bumping, Checking, Dragging and Pushing:
Bumping, Checking, Dragging and Pushing is a way to keep your opponent off balance and off center. These techniques will be done once you have closed the gap by using techniques such as the Lunge Punch or a slide wheel kick. For example once your bridge the gap using the lunge punch you can use your backhand to check the opponents shoulder, grab the clothing or push them so you rob them of there balance. Remember if they have no balance then they have no mobility or stability to work with and will not be able to regain control.
Bumping an opponent is after you have Bridge the Gap you can bump them with your hips, knees, forearm, shoulder or body to get them off balance and moving backwards. Use the techniques to cover or control your opponent’s right hand to keep him from punching, or robbing him of balance so he can’t kick.
When Sparring someone always try to constantly move him or her backwards by bumping, Checking or Pushing them in the direction you want them to go while you are continuously striking them.
A good example of bumping and pushing is the technique Returning Dragon, after you do a forearm smash to the head you will use your forearm to push your attacker away from you then pull them in to a knee strike to the sternum, followed by a elbow to the back then then you grab the attackers neck for a side thrust kick you will once again push your attacker back. By keeping them moving and off balance they will not be able to get their feet underneath them so they will not be able to counter attack. Also keep your attacker moving and off balance.
